Hoglands Park is one of Southampton’s city centre parks, we use the pavilion to run music making sessions with a wide range of groups.
The park contains a skatepark and hosts a number of festivals throughout the year, including the Mela.
The park is not without its serious challenges and is considered by many to be a no go area, especially at night.
A large number of students residing in local halls pass through the park on their way to and from Solent University, and younger students at Southampton City College travel across the park from the city centre.
Within the park are two buildings, parts of which are in poor state of repair or completely unused. Our aspiration is to breathe new life into these forgotten spaces, creating a vibrant offer for city residents, with a varied programme of positive activity for young people, vulnerable adults and the wider community. Working in partnership with arts agencies, sports and activity associations, community groups and the voluntary sector our aim is for the Pavilion and the wider park to become a positive space that supports community cohesion, developing partnerships and delivering programmes that engage with the local community.
