Job Opportunity – Administrator

An exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and responsive arts charity that supports wellbeing and progression through music.

SoCo Music Project has been active in Southampton for 15 years – we work with diverse communities, supporting music for everyone. Our engagement programmes include activities in early years settings, supporting young people to make positive creative choices, and prosocial music making for adults in recovery. We’re committed to supporting talent, through artists development programmes, creative networking and workforce development.

You will be joining us at an exciting time as we embark on a new phase as an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation, establishing our position as a significant arts charity for the region.

The role of Administrator is key as we continue to develop our partnerships and programmes,  providing a supportive and nurturing environment for participants and staff. You will be part of the core team, working closely with the leadership team across many parts of the organisation. Your work will include financial processing, supporting the human resources function, and general administration (including minute taking, organising meetings, planning staff training and liaising with partners/stakeholders). You will be involved in the updating of our organisational policies/risk assessments and the collection of data for impact measurement.

You will need to show the following skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organisational skills, with a good eye for detail
  • Knowledge of, and an interest in, the arts – especially music
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, meet deadlines and manage a number of projects at the same time and with accuracy
  • Administrative skills and experience of working to/with budgets
  • Excellent IT skills including spreadsheets, social media and database management
  • A flexible approach to work and an openness to new ideas
  • Knowledge of political and economic issues affecting the arts sector.

These skills are desirable but not essential:

  • Knowledge of Xero financial platform
  • Knowledge of Airtable database platform
  • Experience of using design software (inc Photoshop/InDesign)
  • Knowledge of organisational policies (i.e. safeguarding, health and safety)

We operate a flexible / hybrid working model for all staff, and particularly to support those with caring responsibilities.

SoCo Music Project is an equal opportunities employer, we are committed to continuing to make diversity, equity, and inclusion part of everything we do – from how we design and deliver our programmes to how we build and support our workforce.
