A project has provisionally come up to add a mural to a key wall in Southampton city centre. The team behind this would love to commission Southampton based artists!
GO! Southampton have expressed that they will be using the free CHAOS network directory as a way to look for Southampton artists.
To be noticed for commission:
· Make sure your CHAOS network profile is up to date.
· Add portfolio photos.
· Tick the Visual Artist selection.
If you feel you have the skills for mural projects, but you have not had the paid opportunity to showcase this, don’t be discouraged! Gemma Pratt from GO! Southampton has confirmed that they are open to giving an artist a platform to grow, as long as they can show a portfolio of work.
The provisional plan for this project is for selected artists to be offered a small commission to submit a design, as per an artist brief. These designs will go to public vote. The winner will be commissioned to complete the work on the wall.
Gemma says, “Southampton has the talent, and it can only grow in our beautiful city if it is funded. It can only be funded if the organisations commissioning projects have easy access to the talent pool. Let’s help each other out!”
